CargoLifter AirKules

A quantum leap in disaster relief

Floods, hurricanes, torrential rain and landslides are becoming more severe and frequent as a result of global warming. Time
and again, areas have to be evacuated and people provided with water, food and medical care. Roads and infrastructure
are destroyed or blocked. Helicopters are practically the only means available for initial relief efforts. However, their numbers are limited and they are expensive to purchase, operate and maintain.

Based on proven lighter-than-air technology, CargoLifter has developed a modular, multifunctional system, the AirKules©

It supports rapid search and rescue operations until heavy equipment can be brought to the scene. The AirKules is a combination of a balloon approved for passenger transport, portable winches for positioning and an ultralight propulsion system. The modular design allows for various systems to be combined within a single balloon:

  • AirCrane for clearing debris and rescuing people directly from above
  • AirBridge for bridging impassable areas and unloading directly from ship to shore
  • AirRescue for the rescue or provision of supplies to trapped individuals

Please donate to AirKules!

The Humanitarian Logistics Organisation e.V. (HLO) is the first organisation to deploy the AirKules. It is conducting training for its use in collaboration with another well-known rescue organisation. The organisations rely on donations to fund equipment, supplies and training.
